Burna Boy Earns New Certification in the United States

Grammy-winning superstar Burna Boy has added another accolade to his growing list of achievements, securing a new RIAA certification in the U.S.

According to Chart Data, his single Alone—featured on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack—has officially sold over 500,000 units in the United States, earning a Gold certification. The track was one of the standout songs on the soundtrack album, which also featured Nigerian stars Rema and Fireboy.

Nominated for Best Global Music Performance at the 2023 Grammys, Alone has continued to enjoy massive success, racking up 164 million streams on Spotify, making it the second most-streamed song from the album, just behind Rihanna’s Lift Me Up.

This marks Burna Boy’s sixth RIAA certification and his fourth solo plaque, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s biggest global music exports.

The 10-time Grammy nominee is preparing for a packed 2025, with the release of his highly anticipated eighth studio album, No Sign of Weakness. The project follows the success of I Told Them…, and has been preceded by the singles Higher, which earned a Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance, and Bundle By Bundle, released in December 2024.

Recently, Burna Boy made history as the first artist to grace the cover of Billboard France Magazine, where he discussed the global rise of Nigerian music and his role in shaping its success.

With his upcoming album, Burna Boy looks to extend his incredible commercial run, which has seen his last four albums earn Grammy nominations. He also remains the first Nigerian artist to have three albums surpass 500 million streams on Spotify.
