Victony to Undergo Fifth Surgery After Surviving 2021 Car Crash

Nigerian singer Victony has revealed that he will be undergoing a fifth surgery, nearly four years after surviving a tragic car accident in 2021 that left him in a coma for four days.

In a heartfelt conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Victony reflected on the life-changing incident and the physical and emotional toll it has had on him. He admitted that the recovery process has been frustrating, particularly during the early stages when he had to use a wheelchair while shooting the music video for Holy Father.

“I think about it as a downtime in my life. When it happened, I was frustrated because being in a wheelchair while shooting the video for ‘Holy Father’ was not what I wanted to do. I don’t like it when people pity me. After a while, I got over it, and now I just live with the memory of the accident.”

Despite years of treatment and multiple surgeries, Victony still experiences pain in his legs and is preparing for another medical procedure.

“Till now, my legs still hurt, and I have to undergo another surgery. I have accepted this experience as part of my journey. The accident has shaped me, but I don’t want to be identified by it—I just want it to be a part of my story.”

Struggling with Survivor’s Guilt

Beyond the physical pain, Victony also opened up about his emotional struggle with survivor’s guilt. The accident claimed the life of a fellow passenger, but he was not informed about the tragic loss until weeks later.

“For some reason, I felt bad for the guy who didn’t make it because I survived. They didn’t tell me until a few weeks later, and it took away some of my joy. Even though I was awake, I was frustrated and angry, yet happy to be alive.”

He admitted that at the time, he was emotionally disconnected from his family, making the news of the loss even more difficult to process.

“Even though I didn’t know him that well, he was someone I vibed with, and he was sitting very close to me. Hearing that he died was very heavy, and I had survivor’s guilt. But I was able to snap out of it and not let it consume me for long.”

Victony’s story is one of resilience and strength, and despite the challenges he continues to face, he remains committed to his music and personal growth. As he prepares for another surgery, fans continue to show their support, hoping for his full recovery.
