Tems Loses Best R&B Song Grammy to SZA’s ‘Saturn’

Tems sets record for daily Spotify streams by a Nigerian female artist

At the 67th Grammy Awards, Nigerian superstar Tems lost the Best R&B Song category to SZA’s Saturn.

Tems was nominated alongside American artists Muni Long, Coco Jones, Kehlani, and eventual winner SZA.

Despite not securing the award, her nomination was a historic moment for Nigerian music. She became the first Nigerian female artist to be nominated outside the global categories as a lead act and the first Nigerian artist to earn a solo nomination in the R&B categories.

Her recognition at the Grammys further solidifies her influence on the global music scene, showcasing Nigerian talent beyond Afrobeats and into mainstream R&B.
