Speed Darlington Survives Alleged Assassination Attempt After Turbulent Months

Nigerian singer and internet sensation Speed Darlington has revealed that he narrowly escaped an alleged assassination attempt, days after his release from prison.

Taking to Instagram on January 27, 2025, the controversial artist shared a video showing bullet holes in his car’s rear end and spent bullets he claimed were extracted from the vehicle. He expressed gratitude to the police officers present at the scene, crediting them for preventing the situation from escalating further.

“Thank God for security personnel; the guy would have come close. I heard gunshots coming in our direction when I was coming out of the club in VI,” Speed Darlington said in the video.

The singer alleged that the attack was a deliberate effort to silence him, hinting at fears over the potential fallout of his outspoken nature.

“The bullets are local, but they’re still bullets. I haven’t even spoken yet, and they’re already shitting their pants, scared of what I’d say. They don dey send killers come. Oh my God, this is crazy. The police officers here also witnessed the shootings. There must be truth in what I’m saying, based on the way he is reacting. He don dey send killers come,” he added, without naming specific individuals.

This alleged attempt on his life comes in the wake of a tumultuous series of events for Speed Darlington.

The saga began on October 4, 2024, when he was arrested following the release of a video where he purportedly mocked fellow Nigerian artist Burna Boy, linking him to American rapper Diddy, who has faced serious legal issues, including allegations of sex trafficking.

Despite being released, Speed Darlington was rearrested on November 27, 2024, during a performance in Owerri. His detention lasted two months before he was finally granted bail by a federal high court in Abuja for a sum of ₦20 million.

Following his release, Speed Darlington announced that his legal team was no longer representing him, sparking further speculation about the challenges he faces.

The alleged assassination attempt marks yet another dramatic chapter in the life of the outspoken entertainer. Fans and observers are waiting to see if he will provide more details about the incident or the potential motives behind it. For now, Speed Darlington’s resilience and ability to stay in the headlines remain unmatched, even amidst life-threatening situations.
