Wizkid’s ‘Morayo’ Makes Billboard Afrobeats History

Wizkid’s sixth studio album, Morayo, has etched its name in history by achieving an unprecedented milestone on the Billboard Afrobeats chart. Every song from the 16-track album has charted for an incredible eighth consecutive week, marking a historic moment for both the artist and the genre.

This groundbreaking achievement was confirmed during the tracking week of January 25, 2025, with Piece of My Heart featuring Brent Faiyaz leading the charge at No. 5. Meanwhile, Lose secured its position at No. 45, rounding off this remarkable feat.

Morayo continues to set records, demonstrating Wizkid’s enduring influence in the music industry. The album previously shattered records for the biggest first-week streams on Spotify Nigeria and became the first project where every track earned at least 500,000 opening-day streams on the platform.

Released on November 22, 2025, Morayo arrived with significant anticipation, having been preceded by the lead single Piece of My Heart, a collaboration with American R&B sensation Brent Faiyaz. The track set a record for the biggest opening day streams on Spotify Nigeria—only for Wizkid to surpass himself with the subsequent release of Dance (Kese).

The album also features high-profile collaborations with Asake, Jasmine Sullivan, Tiakola, and Anaïs Cardot. Its title, Morayo, holds profound personal significance, as it honors Wizkid’s late mother, who passed away in 2024 and was celebrated in a grand ceremony.

In addition to its commercial success, Morayo has been well-received by fans and critics alike, solidifying Wizkid’s reputation as one of the most innovative and consistent forces in Afrobeat. He treated Lagos fans to live performances of tracks from the album at several high-profile events, including the Oando End of the Year Party, where he shared the stage with fellow Afrobeat heavyweights Davido and Burna Boy.

As fans revel in the album’s success, anticipation builds for what’s next. Wizkid has hinted at a global tour in 2025, promising live renditions of the Morayo tracks alongside his iconic hits. With this tour, Wizkid aims to further cement Afrobeat’s global reach and his place as one of its most influential ambassadors.

Morayo’s continued dominance on the Billboard Afrobeats chart is a testament to Wizkid’s artistry, innovation, and the growing influence of Afrobeat on the global music stage. The album is not just a personal triumph for Wizkid but a landmark moment in the ongoing evolution of the genre.
