Do2dtun Bids Farewell to Radio After 20 Impactful Years

Renowned on-air personality Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, popularly known as Do2dtun, has officially announced his retirement from radio after two decades of shaping the Nigerian airwaves.

The charismatic media star shared an emotional message on Instagram, reflecting on his incredible journey from a novice intern to becoming a household name. He expressed gratitude for the experiences, challenges, and triumphs that marked his radio career.

A Journey of Growth and Legacy
Do2dtun recounted his humble beginnings, joining Cool FM Lagos as an intern on November 1, 2004. He described himself then as “dusty, unprepared, and knowing absolutely nothing about radio.” Under the mentorship of legends like the late Dan Foster, Olisa Adibua, and Daddy Freeze, he transformed into one of the industry’s most iconic voices.

Reflecting on those early days, he wrote:

“I was this kid with fear, doubtful, but my hands were held by one of my most selfless colleagues ever. From Dan Foster (RIP) to @daddyfreeze, @mannieessien, @estheroyegue, @olisaadibua… you were the first set of people that gave me the light to grow after GOD.”

Revamping Nigerian Radio
One of Do2dtun’s most significant contributions to the industry was championing the shift from a predominantly foreign playlist to a platform that celebrated Nigerian music. He proudly highlighted his role in pioneering shows like “Cool Nigerian Vibe,” “Superstar Wednesday,” and “Office Concert.”

“Creating shows like these gave radio a lift from just foreign music to 70% Nigerian music and content. It was a win for us all. I can’t even explain my journey because it’s a lot. It was a rollercoaster of the good, the bad, the awesome, and the ugly.”

A Heartfelt Goodbye
As he signed off, Do2dtun expressed his appreciation for the leadership at Cool FM for believing in him and providing a platform where his creativity and passion could flourish. He acknowledged the many ups and downs of his journey but left with a heart full of gratitude and fulfillment.

“This must be one of the hardest decisions I have made. I am fulfilled in my heart that I built a legacy.”

The Next Chapter
While Do2dtun’s time on the airwaves has come to an end, his influence and contributions to Nigerian media remain indelible. Fans and colleagues alike are eagerly awaiting what’s next for the multifaceted entertainer as he ventures into new opportunities beyond the mic.

We wish Do2dtun all the best in his next chapter and celebrate his legacy as a trailblazer in the Nigerian radio industry!
