Nigerian media personality Shade Ladipo has weighed in on the ongoing disagreement between singer Spyro and music executive Pauloo, offering her support to Spyro.
Taking to her Instagram Stories on January 16, 2025, Shade acknowledged Spyro’s claims about his time under Pauloo’s management, insisting that the singer was truthful in his account.
Shade Ladipo Speaks Out
“Pauloo na my Oga, but Spyro did not tell a single lie,” Shade wrote, adding:
“There are too many jokers in this Nigerian music scene who think that just because they’ve existed in the industry or have influence, they automatically understand talent or record label management. My Egbon, no be by ‘I don dey industry for 50 years’.”
She encouraged Pauloo and other music executives to accept their failures alongside their successes.
“Only Don Jazzy/Mavin has proven without reasonable doubt that he understands talent and record label management. My other Egbons, proudly take your Ls without feeling attacked. Someone sharing their story doesn’t mean they’re attacking you. You win some, you lose some. Pauloo, be proud of the investments you made that yielded returns!”

The Backstory
Shade’s comments follow Spyro’s recent interview on Echoo Room, where he detailed his struggles during his two years with Pauloo’s One Music Africa Fest label. Spyro revealed that he had to take out loans to promote his song ‘Funke’, despite Davido’s interest in the track and a remix featuring Mayorkun.
In response, Pauloo shared receipts on social media to refute Spyro’s claims, arguing that he had invested ₦12 million in Spyro’s career without making a return.
Spyro, however, stood by his story, recounting moments of hardship during his time with the label. He claimed he was stranded after a One Africa Music Fest event at Wembley, with no accommodations arranged, and often went without food during that period.
Social Media Reactions
The public dispute has sparked widespread discussion online, with fans and industry insiders sharing mixed opinions. While some side with Spyro for sharing his struggles, others defend Pauloo’s efforts and investments.
As the conversation unfolds, Shade Ladipo’s comments add a fresh perspective, urging music executives to reflect on their management practices and acknowledge areas for growth.
