As Adekunle Gold marks a decade in the music industry, the Nigerian music sensation took a moment to reflect on his journey and the pivotal role that producer and singer-songwriter Pheelz played in his career. In a recent interview celebrating his 10-year milestone, Adekunle Gold revealed how Pheelz was instrumental in connecting him with YBNL boss Olamide, ultimately leading to his groundbreaking record deal.

December 2014 was a turning point for Adekunle Gold, as he burst onto the Nigerian music scene with his debut single, Sade. The song, a unique cover of One Direction’s Story of My Life, quickly became a viral sensation, introducing audiences to his talent and setting the stage for his rise to fame.

While Sade caught the attention of fans and industry players alike, it was Pheelz who helped take Adekunle Gold’s career to the next level. At the time, Adekunle Gold already had a working relationship with YBNL, designing graphics and cover art for artists like Lil Kesh and Viktor.

Recalling the pivotal moment, Adekunle Gold shared that Pheelz heard Sade and was impressed enough to recommend him to Olamide. The producer’s endorsement opened the door for Adekunle Gold to join YBNL, a move that changed the trajectory of his career.

Under YBNL’s banner, Adekunle Gold released his critically acclaimed debut album, Gold, which featured timeless hits like Orente and Pick Up. The project solidified his place in the music industry and showcased his unique blend of urban folk and Yoruba-inspired melodies.

Over the past decade, Adekunle Gold has evolved into one of Nigeria’s most versatile artists. From his humble beginnings as a folk-influenced singer to becoming a pop sensation with projects like Afro Pop Vol. 1, he has consistently demonstrated his artistry, penmanship, and showmanship.

With five albums and numerous chart-topping hits, Adekunle Gold has not only earned his spot as a household name in Nigeria but also as one of Africa’s most sought-after performers. As he reflects on his journey, his gratitude to Pheelz highlights the collaborative spirit that often fuels success in the music industry.

Adekunle Gold’s story is a testament to talent, resilience, and the importance of key relationships in achieving greatness. As he celebrates this significant milestone, fans eagerly anticipate the next chapter in his remarkable career.
