Zlatan Ibile: “Celebrities Shouldn’t Be Mocked for Wearing Fake Designers”

Nigerian rapper and entrepreneur Zlatan Ibile has spoken out against the growing trend of mocking people, especially celebrities, for wearing fake designer clothes. The artist emphasized empathy and understanding, stating that financial limitations shouldn’t be a reason for public ridicule.

In a viral video, Zlatan said:

“People wey dey buy fake, make dem dey buy am until dey get money to buy original. Person wey wear fake today, go wear original tomorrow.”

The rapper called for patience, noting that financial growth is a process and that today’s struggles often lead to future successes.

Recent Incidents in the Spotlight

The debate over fake designer wear has recently been reignited in the Nigerian entertainment industry:

  • Rahman Jago, a fashion entrepreneur, openly criticized veteran singer Oritse Femi for wearing fake high-fashion apparel.
  • Similarly, Olayinka Ashogbon, the founder of Ashluxe, called out singer Lyta for sporting counterfeit versions of his brand’s designs.

Zlatan’s comments serve as a counter-narrative to such public shaming, urging more compassion and less judgment.

A Call for Respect

Zlatan’s stance resonates with the idea that personal circumstances should not define an individual’s worth or artistry. He advocates for an industry culture where growth and effort are celebrated, rather than derided.

As the conversation unfolds, Zlatan’s message serves as a reminder of the importance of kindness and understanding in the world of fashion and celebrity culture.
