Davido’s Stance on Cannabis and Drug Abuse

Nigerian music superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has clarified his views on cannabis, commonly referred to as weed, stating that he does not classify it as a “hard drug.”

The “Unavailable” crooner made this remark while discussing his foundation’s upcoming initiatives to support orphanages and tackle drug abuse among youth. During his appearance on The Morning Hustle podcast, Davido acknowledged criticisms accusing him of hypocrisy for supporting anti-drug campaigns while publicly using cannabis.

“I don’t count weed as a hard drug. Some people are saying I smoke weed but I don’t count weed as a drug,” he explained.

Advocating for Awareness

Davido emphasized the growing challenge of drug addiction and expressed his commitment to donating towards causes that help individuals overcome substance abuse.

“A lot of people have been going through a lot recently. Drug addiction is becoming rampant. So I want to donate to that cause to help them quit,” he added.
