Tyla Leads Top Afrobeats Song Category at 2024 Billboard Music Awards

South African music sensation Tyla has solidified her position as a global icon with three nominations in the Top Afrobeats Song category at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards. This achievement places her as the most-nominated artist in the category, a testament to her meteoric rise in the music industry. The nominated songs—“Water,” “Truth or Dare,” and “Jump”—are all standout tracks from her self-titled debut album Tyla, released earlier this year.

Tyla’s recognition extends beyond Afrobeats, as she’s also nominated for Top R&B ArtistTop R&B Female Artist, and Top Afrobeats Artist, showcasing her versatility and influence across genres. These accolades follow her win at the 2024 MTV VMAs, where she claimed Best Afrobeats Song for her global smash hit, “Water.” During her acceptance speech, Tyla reflected on the international success of African music, emphasizing its diversity and potential to shape global pop culture.

Her competitors in the Top Afrobeats Song category include industry heavyweights like Tems with “Me & U,” and Adam Port & Stryv feat. Malachiii’s “Move,” among others. Despite the tough competition, Tyla’s growing legacy and ability to dominate charts and award stages make her a strong contender.

As fans eagerly await the 2024 Billboard Music Awards, Tyla’s achievements underscore her role in pushing African music to unprecedented heights on the global stage.
