Burna Boy’s ‘Love, Damini’ Hits Major Milestone with RIAA Gold Certification

Burna Boy’s Grammy-nominated album, ‘Love, Damini’, has officially achieved RIAA Gold status after selling 500,000 units in the United States. This remarkable accomplishment further solidifies Burna Boy’s position as one of Afrobeats’ biggest global exports.

Released in 2022, ‘Love, Damini’ is Burna Boy’s sixth studio album and features several international hits that have resonated worldwide. One of the standout tracks, ‘Last Last’, spent multiple weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 44, and has become a cultural anthem. The album also includes the hit collaboration ‘For My Hand’ featuring Ed Sheeran, which added to its success, alongside other star-studded appearances from J Hus, J Balvin, and Khalid.

By reaching this Gold certification, ‘Love, Damini’ joins a prestigious list of Nigerian albums to hit this milestone, including Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos’, Rema’s ‘Rave & Roses (Ultra)’, and Tems’ ‘For Broken Ears’. Each of these albums has made an indelible mark on global music charts, with singles dominating the Billboard Hot 100.

Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ remix with Tems and Justin Bieber climbed to No. 9, while Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ remix with Selena Gomez made history by reaching No. 3. Tems’ hit single ‘Free Mind’ also made waves, spending several weeks on the chart.

This RIAA certification is yet another indication of Burna Boy’s immense global reach and the rising impact of Afrobeats on the international stage. ‘Love, Damini’ continues to be a key part of this cultural movement, with its success proving that African music is truly dominating the global music scene.
