Burna Boy and Odumodublvck Miss Out at 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards

Nigerian superstars Burna Boy and Odumodublvck were both nominated at the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards but unfortunately left without wins. Burna Boy, nominated for Best Live Performer, lost to the legendary Missy Elliott. Meanwhile, Odumodublvck, who was up for Best International Flow, saw the award go to UK rapper Ghetts.

Despite their strong presence, the night’s biggest winner was Kendrick Lamar, who dominated the ceremony, taking home eight awards, including Hip-Hop Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for “Not Like Us.” Megan Thee Stallion, the top nominee with 12 nods, went home empty-handed, making her one of the night’s biggest upsets.

Odumodublvck, who has been on a meteoric rise since his 2022 breakout, still represents a massive achievement for Nigerian rap. His nomination for Best International Flow places him among global heavyweights like Stefflon Don and Blxckie, underscoring his growing impact in the global music scene.

Burna Boy, known for his electrifying performances, will continue to hold his place as one of the best live performers in the industry, even without this award.

Both artists remain critical players in the global Afrobeats and hip-hop scenes, with plenty of success ahead despite missing out on awards this year.
