Seun Kuti Reflects on Being Overlooked by Davido for Wedding Invite

Maverick singer Seun Kuti recently opened up about his frustration after not being invited to Afrobeats megastar Davido’s wedding to Chioma, which took place on June 25, 2024. Speaking on the podcast Curiosity Made Me Ask, hosted by Bae U Barbie, Kuti expressed how the snub affected him deeply, revealing that it left him unable to sleep for a week.

Kuti shared how he and Davido had a history, recalling the times Davido and his entourage would frequent the African Shrine, a bar owned by the Kuti family, where they drank without paying. Despite this relationship, Kuti wasn’t extended an invitation to the high-profile wedding, which hosted dignitaries from various sectors.

In his words:

“Davido would come to the African Shrine with 100 guys, and he would drink without paying, but when it was time for his wedding, I didn’t get IV. I was pained, I didn’t sleep for one week.”

Seun Kuti’s reflections highlight the personal side of celebrity relationships, exposing how even close ties can sometimes lead to disappointment, especially when expectations are unmet. Fans and observers have been reacting with a mix of sympathy and curiosity regarding the incident.
