Fireboy Speaks on Artist Disputes: “Beef is Normal in Music”

Fireboy

Afrobeats star Fireboy DML recently shared his perspective on artist disagreements in the Nigerian music scene during an interview on City FM. Addressing the ongoing tensions between some of the industry’s biggest stars, such as Wizkid and Davido, Fireboy explained that conflicts are a natural part of life, even in music.

“Beef is normal. We’re all human, and disagreements happen,” Fireboy said. “Everyone should just focus on their lane—let artists be artists, fans be fans, and the media tell the stories.”

The singer, known for his calm demeanor and desire to live a drama-free life, emphasized that he prefers to mind his own business when it comes to industry feuds. Despite the frequent clashes between artists, Fireboy believes that everyone should simply concentrate on their own work.

Fireboy also touched on his latest album, Adedamola, which features collaborations with Nigerian legends Lagbaja and Seun Kuti, as well as Grammy-winner Jon Batiste and DJ Spinall. The collaboration with Lagbaja and Seun Kuti was the idea of YBNL boss Olamide, who served as the executive producer of the project.

Artist disputes are not new to Nigerian music. In recent years, the industry has seen public fallouts between stars like Ruger and BNXN, who later reconciled and even released a joint EP. Long-standing disagreements between Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid also continue to stir headlines.
