Wizkid

Wizkid’s Grammy-nominated album Made In Lagos has officially been crowned the most streamed Nigerian album of all time on Apple Music. This achievement was revealed in celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, as Apple Music published a list of the biggest Nigerian albums, songs, and artists on its platform.

The critically acclaimed Made In Lagos, released in 2020, features the global smash hit “Essence” featuring Tems, which won the 2022 BET Award for Best Collaboration. The album has been a cultural phenomenon, solidifying Wizkid’s influence not only in Nigeria but across the world.

Following closely behind on the list is Burna Boy’s Grammy-nominated albums Love, Damini and African Giant, taking the second and third spots, respectively. Tems’ For Broken Ears EP is the fourth most streamed Nigerian album on Apple Music, marking the only project by a female artist to make the top 10.

Here are the top 10 most streamed Nigerian albums of all time on Apple Music:

  1. Made In Lagos – Wizkid
  2. Love, Damini – Burna Boy
  3. African Giant – Burna Boy
  4. For Broken Ears – Tems
  5. I Told Them… – Burna Boy
  6. Twice As Tall – Burna Boy
  7. Mr. Money With The Vibe – Asake
  8. Timeless – Davido

In addition to these rankings, Apple Music is celebrating Nigeria’s rich musical heritage with Oshe Naija, a month-long initiative that highlights the regions that have shaped Nigeria’s diverse soundscape. This initiative will feature eight exclusively curated playlists by influential artists like Afro-fusion star Omah Lay (Port Harcourt), hip-hop sensation ODUMODUBLVCK (Abuja), rising artist Shallipopi (Benin City), and genre-blending talent Seyi Vibez (Lagos), among others.

As Nigerian music continues to make waves globally, the success of Made In Lagos underscores the far-reaching influence of Afrobeat and the thriving music scene in Nigeria.
