Jaruma Reveals She Got Married to Avoid Backlash Over Selling Aphrodisiacs.

Hauwa Mohammed, popularly known as Jaruma, a controversial self-proclaimed sex therapist, recently disclosed the reasons behind her marriage to Ross Fahad Isabor in 2018. In a candid conversation on the Issues and Society podcast, Jaruma explained that she married to alleviate the intense criticism she received for selling aphrodisiacs as a single woman, especially from the northern community.

She shared how difficult it was to face the backlash, as many questioned why an unmarried woman was involved in the business of selling intimate products. Jaruma stated:

“There was massive criticism from the north because I was selling sex products as a single lady.”

Despite the challenges, Jaruma continued her business, noting its immense financial success, making N760 million in just three years. However, the pressure pushed her to marry within a month of meeting her now ex-husband, admitting the marriage was not for love but to escape public scrutiny.

Their marriage, which produced one child, ended in divorce in 2021. Jaruma revealed that her ex-husband was aware from the start that the marriage was due to societal pressure, not love.

In 2022, Ross Fahad Isabor publicly warned Jaruma to stop using his name to promote her products, branding them as “fake.”

This story highlights the societal pressures women face, especially in culturally conservative regions, and how those pressures can impact personal decisions.
