Davido Dazzles Ethiopian Fans During New Year 2017 Celebration

Davido thrills Ethiopian fans as the country celebrates the start of year 2017

Nigerian Afrobeats megastar Davido electrified a sold-out crowd in Ethiopia as the country celebrated the start of the year 2017 on September 11, 2024. Ethiopia follows the Orthodox Tewahedo calendar, which runs seven years behind the widely-used Gregorian calendar, with its New Year marked in September.

The Grammy-nominated artist treated fans to an unforgettable performance, delivering hit songs from his chart-topping fourth album Timeless alongside other fan favorites. Davido’s vibrant set added to the joyous festivities as Ethiopians welcomed the new year with music and celebration.

Davido’s Ethiopian performance is part of his ongoing international presence, which recently saw him perform in Saint Tropez at an exclusive event attended by prominent figures, including Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola. During his time in France, he also met with a Saudi prince, calling himself the “King of Nigeria.”

This exciting year for Davido continues with three Grammy nominations for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, and his new single Joy featuring 5-time Grammy winner Angelique Kidjo is generating buzz ahead of the 67th Grammy submission deadline.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the release of Davido’s highly anticipated fifth album, which he has promised will be his best work yet, further cementing his place as a global Afrobeats ambassador.
