Nigerian singer Korede Bello has opened up about the reasons behind his decision to leave Mavins Records, the renowned label led by music producer Don Jazzy. Bello, who signed with Mavins in 2014 and exited the label in 2021, explained that his departure stemmed from a desire to regain his sense of purpose and self-worth.
In a recent interview with Hip TV, hosted by KimOprah, Korede Bello shared:
“I was at a season in my life where I needed to metamorphose, to explore my inner worth, to do introspection, understand myself, understand meaning more, and reconnect to my why.”
He admitted that during his time at Mavins, he began to feel like a product solely designed to generate revenue for the label. This, according to him, caused him to lose sight of what truly mattered, as he got caught up in the pursuit of the next hit song or industry recognition.
Bello also emphasized that many artists fall into the same cycle, constantly chasing hits and trends, which can lead to losing their artistic authenticity. By stepping away from Mavins, he sought to reclaim his creative freedom and reconnect with his true purpose in the music industry.
