Nigerian singer Dammy Krane has been released from police detention after spending six days in custody following his arrest over defamation allegations against fellow artist Davido.
The singer was released on Thursday, August 29, 2024, marking the end of his detention, which stemmed from a series of accusations he made against Davido on social media. Dammy Krane had claimed he was illegally arrested at Davido’s behest, sparking widespread discussions online.
Following his release, popular social media commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM) took to Instagram to share a video of Dammy Krane expressing regret for his actions. In the video, Dammy Krane offered a public apology to Davido, specifically retracting the allegations he had made concerning the death of Tagbo, a mutual acquaintance.
“I want to say a big thank you to my brother. There are a lot of words that ought not to be said. I want to apologize for Tagbo’s death allegation. David is still my brother. And we are going to find a major ground to resolve everything,” Dammy Krane stated in the video.
VDM, in his post accompanying the video, expressed hope that Dammy Krane would focus on his music moving forward, thanking Davido for his leniency in the situation
