Omah Lay Reveals He Re-recorded His Album After a Friend Stole His Sound

Nigerian music sensation Omah Lay has shared a shocking revelation about the creative process behind his upcoming album. In a recent interview on the Zang Sang Show, the “Boy Alone” singer disclosed that he had to re-record his entire album after a fellow artist stole his sound.

Omah Lay, known for his deeply personal and resonant music, recounted how he was working on a new sound that he shared with a trusted friend in the industry. However, to his surprise, the artist released an album featuring that very sound just five months later.

“I shared an idea with a certain artist, someone I really admired, and I was excited to collaborate and explore this new direction in Afrobeats,” Omah Lay explained. “But five months later, that artist dropped an album using the sound I had shared.”

Faced with the unexpected situation, Omah Lay made the decision to start over and create a new body of work. He confidently declared that his re-recorded album will be the “greatest album of all time in Afrobeats history.”

As fans eagerly await the release of his sophomore album, Omah Lay has already given a taste of what’s to come with his latest single, “Moving,” marking his first release of 2024. The track follows his recent collaborations with Kaestyle and Spinall, building anticipation for what promises to be a groundbreaking project.
