Ruggedman Explains Why He Withdrew Support for VeryDarkMan

Nigerian rapper Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, popularly known as Ruggedman, has revealed the reasons behind his decision to stop supporting the controversial self-proclaimed activist VeryDarkMan. In the latest episode of the Echoo Room podcast, Ruggedman shared that while he initially admired VeryDarkMan’s activism, particularly his efforts to expose those selling products without NAFDAC approval, he became disillusioned when the activist began intruding into people’s private lives.

Ruggedman explained:

“I liked VeryDarkMan in the beginning when he started with the whole NAFDAC number thing but when he started going personal into people’s private lives, especially with women. That to me, he is just distracting himself.”

He further expressed concern about the activist’s increasingly aggressive approach, likening it to a police officer resorting to extreme measures unnecessarily. Ruggedman criticized VeryDarkMan for targeting individuals such as actress Iyabo Ojo and her daughter, suggesting that such actions deviate from meaningful activism.

Ruggedman concluded:

“His approach is what I don’t like anymore. He was calling out people that sell products without a NAFDAC number, that’s amazing but now what do you hear about him? Iyabo Ojo and her daughter kind of thing, that’s why I said it is his approach I’m not okay with.”

Ruggedman’s comments highlight the fine line between activism and invasion of privacy, suggesting that VeryDarkMan’s methods have crossed into the latter, prompting the rapper to distance himself from the activist’s cause.
