Miss SA Scandal: Tyla Condemns Bullying of Finalist Chidimma Adetshina

Grammy-winning South African singer Tyla has publicly condemned the bullying of Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina, a finalist in the Miss South Africa pageant who recently withdrew from the competition. Adetshina, a model of Nigerian and Mozambican descent, became embroiled in controversy over her nationality after advancing to the round of 16.

In July, Adetshina’s participation in the pageant was questioned after allegations surfaced from the South African Department of Home Affairs, suggesting that her mother might have committed fraud and identity theft. Despite making it to the Top 11, Adetshina chose to step back from the competition due to the mounting scrutiny.

Reacting to the situation, Tyla expressed her disappointment over the harsh treatment Adetshina faced, stating that the model was bullied out of the competition. Tyla shared her thoughts via X, saying:

“Disappointed that this happened to her, but wish you all the best girl. Kill it! I will always stand with South Africa, I just feel regardless of the opinions… She was bullied and that’s what I don’t stand for.”

In the wake of the controversy, Miss Universe Nigeria extended an invitation to Adetshina to participate in their contest. As of now, Adetshina has yet to respond to the offer.
