Nigerian Music Stars Shine Bright at 2024 Glastonbury Music Festival

Burna Boy, Femi Kuti, Tems, Ayra Starr shine at the 2024 Glastonbury Music Festival

The 2024 Glastonbury Music Festival was a momentous occasion for Nigerian music, as some of the country’s biggest stars took the stage by storm, showcasing the best of Afrobeat and Afrobeats to a crowd of over 200,000 people.

The festival, one of the largest and most prestigious in the world, drew thousands of fans from around the globe and featured a lineup of international stars, including our very own Nigerian talents.

Ayra Starr, the young and talented singer-songwriter, kicked off the Nigerian takeover on June 28, performing hits from her latest album, “The Year I Turned 21”. Her energetic set included a rousing rendition of “Sability”, which got the crowd dancing and singing along.

Tems, fresh from her Grammy win, returned to the Glastonbury stage, treating the audience to songs from her debut album “Born In The Wild”. Her soulful voice and captivating stage presence left the crowd in awe.

Burna Boy, the African Giant himself, brought the house down on June 30 with a blistering set that included hits like “Last Last” and “Anybody”. His high-energy performance had the crowd begging for more.

Femi Kuti, the Afrobeat legend and son of the great Fela Kuti, delivered a memorable performance with his son Made Kuti, joining British band Coldplay on stage for a special collaboration. Their rendition of “Arabesque” was a highlight of the festival.

But the biggest moment came when Burna Boy and Coldplay premiered their unreleased collaboration, “We Pray”. This historic moment marked a first for the Grammy-winning band and our very own African Giant, and the crowd went wild.

The 2024 Glastonbury Music Festival was a testament to the power and influence of Nigerian music on the global stage. Our stars shone bright, and we couldn’t be prouder!
