Seun Kuti announced the upcoming single on June 19, 2024, via Instagram. The track will feature Seun Kuti’s Egypt 80 band and Damian Marley, blending Afrobeat and reggae to create a unique and highly anticipated sound.
Earlier this year, the movie “One Love,” about Bob Marley, featured Nigerian artists Wizkid and Bloody Civilian on its soundtrack. At the premiere, Bob Marley’s granddaughter, Zuri Marley, expressed a wish that her grandfather could have collaborated with Fela Kuti and Burna Boy. While the original legends never had the chance to work together, Seun Kuti and Damian Marley are fulfilling that dream for fans.
The single “Dey” is scheduled for release on June 26, 2024, ahead of Seun Kuti’s new album, which will be executive-produced by American music icon Lenny Kravitz.
