CWAFU-17: Ghana Coach Resigns Ahead of Golden Eaglets Clash

Black Starlets head coach Laryea Kingston has resigned following his team’s 2-1 defeat to Burkina Faso in the semi-finals of the WAFU B U-17 Championship on Saturday night.

The loss eliminated the hosts from qualifying for the 2024 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.

Kingston announced his resignation and departed the team bus on the way back to their hotel after the match.

Ghana is set to face long-time rivals Nigeria in the third-place match on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, holders Nigeria were dethroned by Cote d’Ivoire, who secured a 1-0 victory in the other semi-final on the same day.

Kingston’s assistants and the technical director of the Ghana Football Association are expected to lead the Black Starlets in their match against the Golden Eaglets.
