“I Never Touched Mohbad”, Sam Larry Breaks Silence on Viral Video and Allegations

Controversial Lagos socialite Sam Larry has once again denied any involvement in the alleged assault or harassment of the late Afrobeats singer Mohbad, insisting he never physically harmed the artist.

In a new interview, Sam Larry addressed the viral video that resurfaced amid public outrage following Mohbad’s death. The footage appeared to show him disrupting a video shoot involving Mohbad, an incident that many interpreted as an act of aggression. But Larry claims the encounter was misunderstood.

“I did not threaten Mohbad with boys. I only went to the beach to buy something for my child. When I got there, I saw Mohbad and others shooting a video. I approached them, and some beach boys followed me,” he explained.

According to Larry, the confrontation was over an alleged unpaid debt. He said he told Mohbad he wouldn’t leave the venue without settling the amount owed. He added that rapper Zlatan stepped in and deescalated the situation.

“Zlatan held me and told me I had passed that level, and that was it,” Larry recounted. “I never laid a hand on him, not that day or any day.”

He also clarified that Naira Marley, who was also caught in the wave of public accusations, wasn’t even aware of his presence at the beach during the incident.

“Naira Marley didn’t see Mohbad that day, I was behind. I have never in my life touched or attempted to beat Mohbad,” Larry emphasized.

Sam Larry went on to say that he was invited by the police after Mohbad filed a petition accusing him of damaging equipment and making threats involving alleged connections to the Elegushi royal family. He claims the accusations were false and aimed at tarnishing his image.

In October 2023, both Sam Larry and Naira Marley were arrested and detained for five weeks during investigations into Mohbad’s sudden and tragic death. They were eventually released on bail. In February 2025, a Lagos magistrate court formally cleared both men of any direct involvement in the case.

Despite the legal clearance, public sentiment remains divided. Social media users and fans of Mohbad have continued to voice suspicion and outrage, with the court of public opinion still casting a long shadow over the embattled figures.

Sam Larry’s latest comments are part of his ongoing efforts to clear his name and reshape the narrative surrounding his relationship with the late artist. Whether the public accepts his version of events remains to be seen.
