Legendary Nigerian music producer ID Cabasa has revealed that Burna Boy is one artist he still hopes to work with, describing the Grammy winner as the missing piece in his long and storied discography.

In a recent interview on Hip TV, the Coded Tunez boss reflected on his career and expressed gratitude for working with some of Nigeria’s most influential artists, including 9ice, Olamide, and Reminisce. Still, Burna Boy remains on his wishlist.
“If there’s anybody I would still want to taste out of my music, it would be Burna,” Cabasa said, praising Burna Boy’s unique sound and global reach.
Interestingly, the veteran also mentioned another artist whose sound he admires, but chose not to name due to the artist’s “nuisance value.” While he didn’t reveal who he meant, many fans speculate it could be controversial street-hop star Portable, known as much for his music as for his frequent drama.
Throughout the conversation, Cabasa credited musical influences like Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Ayinla Kollington, and Ayinde Barrister, along with American producers Dr Dre and Scott Storch. He also gave a nod to Nigerian production pioneers Laolu Akins, Nelson Brown, and the late OJB Jezreel.
He shared that his love for music was sparked in his early days growing up in the Anglican Church, which helped shape his sonic identity.
Now, with over two decades of groundbreaking work under his belt, ID Cabasa is preparing for the release of a new album titled ‘Unfinished Business’. The project will feature modern reimaginings of Nigerian classics, part of a growing trend that pays homage to the country’s rich musical history.
Stay tuned for what promises to be another impactful chapter in Cabasa’s illustrious career.
