Dave & Burna Boy’s ‘Location’ Goes 5x Platinum in the UK

Afrofusion superstar Burna Boy continues to solidify his status as one of Africa’s most globally recognized artists, as his smash hit ‘Location’ with British-Nigerian rapper Dave has officially been certified 5x Platinum in the United Kingdom.

Released in 2019 as a standout track from Dave’s debut album Psychodrama, ‘Location’ has since become one of the rapper’s biggest hits and a defining moment in Burna Boy’s international rise. The collaboration fused Burna Boy’s signature Afrobeat energy with Dave’s smooth UK rap delivery, a combination that clearly resonated with fans and continues to rack up streams and sales five years later.

This major certification further expands Burna Boy’s growing list of accolades in the UK and follows another recent milestone: his single ‘Alone’, from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, recently became eligible for RIAA Gold certification in the U.S., having sold over 500,000 units.

‘Alone’, which was also nominated for Best Global Song Performance at the 2023 Grammys, has accumulated over 164 million streams on Spotify, making it the second most-streamed track on the album after Rihanna’s ‘Lift Me Up’.

Now a 10-time Grammy nominee, Burna Boy shows no signs of slowing down. He’s currently gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated eighth studio album, ‘No Sign of Weakness’, expected to drop later this year.

Ahead of the album, he’s already made waves with his recent single ‘Tatata’, featuring American rap icon Travis Scott, a bold new collaboration that further cements his influence on the global stage.

With each milestone, Burna Boy continues to raise the bar not just for himself, but for African artists breaking through on the world stage.
