Afrobeats sensation Omah Lay was involved in a car accident in Lagos over the weekend, but thankfully, he escaped unhurt.
The incident, which reportedly happened at night on Lagos Island, involved two of the singer’s Tesla trucks. Though details remain unclear, videos shared by music executive Adesope “Shopsydoo” Olajide show a calm Omah Lay walking around the scene, visibly unharmed. The damaged vehicles were later seen being loaded onto a towing truck.
The accident comes at a time when Omah Lay is enjoying renewed attention following his standout feature on Davido’s hit single “With You”, which continues to climb charts and spark conversations.
Fans Breathe a Sigh of Relief
In the aftermath of the crash, fans expressed gratitude that the singer, born Stanley Omah Didia, was safe. The incident also sparked new interest in the artist’s personal journey, especially as he’s been open about his battles with mental health.
Just days before the accident, Omah Lay shared a reflective post on social media, writing:
“Clarity Of Mind Money is everything.”
The cryptic post not only hinted at his mindset but also confirmed the title of his upcoming sophomore album, “Clarity of Mind.” The project is expected to explore themes of healing, growth, and mental clarity, a continuation of the raw vulnerability he showcased on his 2022 debut album, Boy Alone.
In that project, the singer laid bare his struggles with chronic depression, and later revealed via X (formerly Twitter) that the situation worsened after an inappropriate relationship with his therapist.
Despite the emotional rollercoaster, Omah Lay’s star continues to rise. His story of survival, from mental health battles to now walking away from a car accident, reinforces his image as an artist with depth, resilience, and relatability.
