Canadian rapper Tory Lanez is reportedly recovering after a brutal stabbing incident inside prison that left him critically injured.
The rapper, currently serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of fellow artist Megan Thee Stallion, was allegedly attacked by another inmate at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. According to a statement released by his team, Lanez sustained 14 stab wounds during the violent encounter.
“Tory was stabbed 14 times, 7 wounds to his back, 4 to his torso, 2 to the back of his head, and 1 to the left side of his face,” the statement revealed. “Both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing machine. He is now breathing on his own.”
The incident reportedly occurred in a housing unit, where prison staff quickly responded by administering first aid and calling emergency services. Lanez was rushed to a hospital outside the prison grounds for urgent medical care.
Celebrity news outlet TMZ also confirmed the attack, noting that the situation was severe enough to cause major concern for his health. Fans and supporters were left shocked, but many expressed relief after learning that Lanez had stabilized and was showing signs of recovery.
“Despite the pain, Tory is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God. He also appreciates everyone for their prayers and continued support,” his team shared.
As of now, the motive behind the attack remains unclear. Authorities have yet to confirm the identity of the attacker or whether any additional charges will be filed.
Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, was convicted in 2022 for shooting Megan Thee Stallion during an argument in Los Angeles. He began serving his sentence in 2023.
This latest incident adds to an already tumultuous chapter in the rapper’s life, sparking renewed conversations about prison safety and celebrity incarceration.
