Odumodublvck Explains Why His Mic Was Cut During Headies 2025 Acceptance Speech

Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has addressed the viral moment from the 2025 Headies Awards where his microphone was abruptly cut off mid-speech, a moment that left fans both confused and concerned.

The Declan Rice hitmaker was crowned Next Rated Artist at the 17th Headies, held on April 27, 2025, at the Landmark Centre. But during what was meant to be an emotional and celebratory acceptance speech, Odumodublvck’s mic was suddenly muted while he was still speaking on stage, flanked by his crew and his mother.

Days after the incident, Odumodublvck took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to explain what happened. According to the rapper, his mic was cut because he began speaking about Jesus Christ during his speech, a moment he believes wouldn’t have been censored if he had instead spoken about political figures.

“I WAS TALKING ABOUT JESUS AND THEY TRIED TO SHUT ME DOWN,” he wrote.
“I AM HUNDRED PERCENT SURE THAT IF I WAS TALKING ABOUT HIS EXCELLENCY GOVERNOR BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN CUT OFF.”

Despite the interruption, Odumodublvck made it clear he holds no grudge against the Headies organisers, thanking them for eventually restoring his mic and allowing him to finish.

“I GENUINELY HAVE NO BAD BLOOD TOWARDS THE HEADIES. RATHER, I AM GRATEFUL THEY PUT MY MIC BACK ON TO SPREAD THE GOSPEL.
JESUS IS KING. HE IS BEFORE NOW AND FOREVER.”

His bold declaration has since sparked conversation across social media, with many praising the rapper’s unapologetic faith and his courage to speak out.
