Mo Salah Set to Stay! Liverpool Star Agrees New Deal After Lengthy Talks

Liverpool fans, rejoice — the saga is finally nearing its end. Mohamed Salah is set to extend his legendary stay at Anfield after agreeing, in principle, to a new two-year contract with the Reds, keeping him on Merseyside until June 2027.

After months of speculation, negotiations, and uncertainty, trusted sources including journalist Sacha Tavolieri and David Ornstein confirm that Liverpool have finally cleared the last major hurdle in contract talks — the length of the deal. The club has agreed to grant Salah the two-year extension he wanted, while the Egyptian icon has compromised slightly on his wage demands to make the deal happen.

The new agreement, reportedly worth around £35.36 million — or roughly £340,000 per week — will make Salah one of the highest earners in the Premier League. Yet, for Salah, the motivation goes beyond money. The 32-year-old forward has always prioritized staying at Liverpool, where his family is settled and where he feels most at home.

A Legacy Sealed in Red

With 243 goals in 394 games, Salah is already the third-highest goalscorer in Liverpool’s history. His name is etched alongside club legends, and his contribution to Liverpool’s golden era — including Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and Club World Cup triumphs — is indisputable.

This season alone, Salah has delivered 27 goals and 17 assists in 31 Premier League appearances, playing a pivotal role in Arne Slot’s side sitting comfortably at the top of the table with an 11-point lead over Arsenal.

Now, it appears fans will get to see more of the Egyptian King at Anfield — and potentially watch him break even more records in the famous red shirt.

Van Dijk Also on Track to Stay

Salah isn’t the only one preparing to ink a new deal. Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, whose contract also expires this summer, confirmed that talks over his future are progressing positively. According to Ornstein, it’s now a matter of “when, not if” the Dutch defender signs a new contract.

The 32-year-old remains one of the best center-backs in world football and is integral to Liverpool’s success, both on and off the pitch. Like Salah, Van Dijk has made it clear he wants to stay.

Trent’s Future Lies Elsewhere

While Liverpool are close to securing two of their biggest stars, Trent Alexander-Arnold appears likely to depart. The England international’s contract expires at the end of June, and reports suggest a move to Real Madrid is on the cards. However, his potential departure has not impacted the club’s negotiations with Salah and Van Dijk, as each player’s deal is being handled based on individual circumstances.

What’s Next?

With the season approaching its climax — Liverpool host Crystal Palace on the final day, May 25 — fans can expect official announcements soon. The club is eager to settle these key contracts before a pivotal summer.

This marks a significant win for Liverpool, who look determined to build their next chapter on a foundation of proven leaders. Salah’s decision to stay, despite tempting offers from Saudi Arabia, reinforces his commitment to the club’s future.

Final Word

For many, this is the best signing Liverpool could make this summer. In an era where loyalty in football is increasingly rare, Mohamed Salah’s decision to continue his journey with the Reds is more than a contract — it’s a statement.

The King isn’t leaving his throne just yet.
